Penn State Public Broadcasting is searching for a Producer/Director who is interested in creating “real-people” documentary style projects. You should have a passion for storytelling and public service media. You will work with our Lead Producers to design and produce broadcast and non-broadcast projects, including short and long form productions, both field and studio based. Manage all production elements including personnel, talent, facilities, and budgets. Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, (BFA or MFA in film/video production preferred), plus one year of work-related experience in non-traditional and emerging technologies. Effective planning, writing, coordinating, and directing are required. Skills in non-linear editing; multimedia; and working with clients on media projects are preferred. You must have an appreciation for working with diverse audiences. This job will focus on supporting the University’s advancement and producing effective public service media projects.
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

As a team player, you will consult with our staff and external clients on pre-production and provide specialized assistance and ensuring proper use for our Websites. This job will be filled as baseline, intermediate, or mid-level, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Associate’s degree in information systems, digital media design, graphic design or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You should possess excellent writing and editing skills; effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; and can demonstrate your commitment to diversity. Experience with vector graphic creation and interactive Flash Development would be desirable. Also responsible for budget control of portions of assigned projects and development of graphic and visual components of production to meet design specifications and ascertain and meet external client needs. As needed, may host "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered," produce morning news, and host other on-air shifts. Serve as talent during on-air membership drives. May also develop ideas/proposals for reports and programs. Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus three months of work-related experience.

Requires flexibility; may work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as duties dictate. Major Gifts Officer, Penn State Public Broadcasting

Penn State’s Office of University Development is seeking a Major Gifts Officer (Associate Director of Development/Project Development) for Penn State Public Broadcasting (WPSU). This job reports directly to the Director of Station Development and will take a leadership role in developing funding strategies for underwriting of programming on multiple delivery platforms---e.g. broadcast, statewide Video on Demand, national Big Ten Network, on-line delivery.

Energies will be focused on developing strategic relationships with and securing grants from corporations and foundations. Job will work collaboratively with University and Outreach grants and contract personnel to develop funding strategies to support significant public media projects. In addition, this person will match Outreach and University strengths with prospective donor interests and will collate and interpret available research data pertinent to the development of relationships with potential donors. Preparing, reviewing, editing, and packaging formal proposals required.

Successful candidate expected to complete an average minimum of fifteen (15) monthly visits with prospects and donors. Requires Bachelor‚s degree plus three years of fundraising-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Job demands the capacity to think and act strategically in the process of identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects. A working knowledge of various media platforms is desirable and a passion for the missions of higher education and public media is essential.
