Jason Reeves at Sozo this Sunday

Sozo’s concert schedule has been sparse this year, but the venue will hold a folk-rock concert this Sunday, April 25th at 7pm featuring Jason Reeves, T.J. Cornwall, Find Vienna, and Rosi Golan. The show, organized by Drusky Entertainment and Nittany Booking, will be open to all ages.
Jason Reeves is doing pretty well. The 25 year-old singer/songwriter and Iowa native moved to California a few years ago, landing him writing gigs with Colbie Caillait (he co-wrote her album Coco) and Demi Lovato. Warner Bros. Records scooped up the acoustic pop/folk singer and is re-distributing his 2007 album The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (and Other Frightening Tales…). Reeves has a laid-back style, replete with harmonious hooks and heartfelt memorable lyrics.
Pittsburgher and Penn State grad T.J. Cornwall will play Sozo with Reeves. His alt-rock sounds a little like the blues at times, juxtaposed against almost twangy vocals. None of his songs are too similar to each other - an accomplishment for a solo artist. Their structure and instrumentation is always varied, sometimes resting heavily on piano, sometimes on guitar. The young enterprising musician will be the perfect complement to Reeves and the other performers.
Special guests Find Vienna play music that often feels understated, awash with melodic electric guitars and insistent rhythms that carry their songs smoothly forward. The band, hailing from North Wales, PA, is touring in support of their 2009 EP In Your Favorite Colors.
Folk singer Rosi Golan’s charming acoustic songs combine her sweet soprano voice with beautiful melodies. The Israeli-born musician is now living in New York and gaining a well-deserved following for her album The Drifter and the Gypsy. Golan’s songs have been featured in a JC Penney holiday commercial, the movie Dear John, Grey’s Anatomy, and One Tree Hill.
The small but cozy venue is a great location for acoustic shows, creating an intimate atmosphere for a Sunday evening. If you haven’t been to Sozo before, check it out!
