My New Favorite Band: Power Glove

I was watching this movie the other day, The ABCs of Death (don’t watch it, it’s not worth it, unless you want to waste two hours of your life). It consisted of various short horror films from directors across the world. Each were given a letter of the alphabet and told to choose a word that started with that letter to create a short film. The only one I liked was the short for the letter X, XXL (beware, it’s bloody), which I believe was a commentary on society’s pressure to be skinny. But I digress.

Y was for Youngbuck, is a short about pedophilia. The short was dumb, but the music? The music was heaven in my ears. The music basically served as the dialogue. The piece is called “Vengeance” by my new favorite band, Power Glove, a power metal band.

I can’t believe I haven’t heard of them before! Apparently, they’ve been around for a few years now. Like always, after I hear something I really like, I look it up and listen to it over and over and over and over again. After more research, I found out they cover video game music, and even composed an original soundtrack for the game Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, a first-person shooter satirizing 1980s action films.

It’s like my dream come true! Video game music is my favorite “genre,” if it can even be called that. Combine this with 80s influenced sounds and cyberpunk themes, and this is my fantasy come to life. After hearing more music from Power Glove, I discovered Com Truise, ActRazer, and Kavinsky, who I already knew from the Nicolas Winding Refn film Drive, but didn’t know I knew. I’ve already listened to the soundtrack for Far Cry 3 at least five times (and I’m not exaggerating). I’ve posted the soundtrack below. Excuse me while I listen to this again:
