Super Mash Bros. to ‘One Up’ campus
Posted by Marcus Correll on 09/29 at 04:11 PM
Though this post’s title makes a joke from the Mario themed band, Super Mash Bros., fans of the band can take this seriously: they are going to be playing this Friday at 7 PM at Delta Upsilon, 229 Locust Lane. Tickets for this event are $15 at the door or online. Tickets can also be purchased in the HUB until Oct 1.
This event is part of the Blitz and Beatz Tour hosted by The Campus Socialite that, according to the tour’s website, is “a university concert and tailgate series that is invading schools across the country throughout the fall semester.”
Super Mash Bros. is a group of three DJ’s who take both current songs and oldies, weaves them together with similar beats, styles or sometimes even conflicting sounds, and makes a new song called a “mashup.” This group is similar to the infamous Greg Gillis, aka DJ Girltalk, who uses multiple songs at once in his own form of mashing music together.
What these shows are known for is the excessive dancing and crowdsurfing, the lights (or lack thereof) and lets not forget - the party. The most important part of this type of event is to party. Seeing that this is being held at a fraternity house, a few issues are raised. Events similar to this, including performances by Afroman at a frat were shut down due to noise violations. Let’s hope this isn’t the case, so we can all enjoy a bumpin’ night. Keep up to date on the Facebook event page for further information.
