Ted McCloskey and the Hi-Fi’s Tonight at the Phyrst
Posted by Stephen Smith on 01/28 at 12:11 PM
Ted McCloskey and the Hi-Fi’s will be playing in their weekly 10:30pm slot at the Phyrst tonight. Ted teams with bassist Rene Witzke and drummer Daryl Branford. They’ll perform a mixture of covers and original songs from their last two albums.
McCloskey’s latest CD, One Night Bland, was released in September of 2009. Its 23 tracks are a combination of new material and remixed tracks from his first album, One Man Misery Parade (2003). Since then, he has released a steady stream of records, starting with Sixty Cycle Hum (2004), Who’s Gonna Listen Anyway (2006), and Technicolor Thieves (2007).
The ’92 Penn State grad is also a part of three other State College bands and performs five nights a week. An extensive article on the “King of State College music” can be found here. Free MP3 streams of Ted’s music can be found on their myspace page.
Ted’s the JoePa of the State College music scene. If he’s anything like the beloved coach, he’s not going anywhere for a while. So come down to the Phyrst tonight and check out this indie-rock stalwart in action.
