Chinese Learn from WPSU Documentary

Visitors from a Chinese leadership delegation came to WPSU studios yesterday to view Liquid Assets. The group of twelve professionals came to the U.S. looking for solutions to the water problems their country shares with ours.

Musicians Play ‘4 Haiti’

Last Saturday evening amid the revelry accompanying the first spring weekend, students and musicians gathered at the Abba Java Coffeehouse (corner of Locust and Calder) to raise money for rebuilding homes in Haiti. The small stage and DIY-feel of the event created an intimate atmosphere (as did the lamps scattered about the stage, brought from the bedrooms and desks of SOMA members for decoration).

Volunteers Needed for Our Town Reynoldsville Production

Community members from the Reynoldsville area are invited to attend a volunteer planning meeting to learn about the Our Town project. The meeting will be held at the Reynoldsville Bellamauro Social Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7. Anyone interested in the production is invited to attend. The hall is located at 1017 Route 950, Reynoldsville / Falls Creek Road.

Help 4 Haiti Benefit Concert on Saturday

The Abba Java Coffeehouse (at the corner of Locust Lane and Calder Way downtown) will hold a concert on Saturday March 20th at 6:30pm. Admission is just $2 and proceeds will be donated to the relief effort for Haiti.

Flogging Molly Brought the Spirit of Ireland to PSU

Flogging Molly and Scythian brought the real spirit of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day to Penn State’s Alumni Hall Wednesday night. The crowd was enthusiastic, decked out in green shirts, beads, and kilts. Some students even brought a flag to wave during the show.

Fleck Brings sounds of Africa to Eisenhower

Béla Fleck has documented his musical travels to Uganda, The Gambia, Tanzania, and Mali in his documentary “The Africa Project.” Last Thursday, Fleck brought some of these African sounds, along with musicians he met, to Eisenhower Auditorium.
