Winemaking Opportunity to Support WPSU

Frank Trovato grew up watching his grandfather make wine in his basement. Though other family members took up the winemaking tradition, Frank went a different route.
“Frank’s more of a beer drinker,” said his wife, Maureen.
But a day spent at WPSU’s 2009 Wine Celebration put Frank on a course toward greater wine appreciation.

Chinese Learn from WPSU Documentary

Visitors from a Chinese leadership delegation came to WPSU studios yesterday to view Liquid Assets. The group of twelve professionals came to the U.S. looking for solutions to the water problems their country shares with ours.

WPSU to Bring Digital Media to Pennsylvania Classrooms

WPSU formally announced yesterday its partnership with PBS and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to bring digital media to preK-12 classrooms.

Folks enjoyed the Our Town: Curwensville Preview

More than 40 people attended the Our Town:Curwensville preview Thursday night at the Curwensville Area High School Auditorium. It was a great show and the folks who helped tell the stories of their town in Clearfield County said they enjoyed the hour-long program.

WPSU-TV Wins Two Emmys

WPSU-TV brought home two 2009 Mid-Atlantic Emmy awards last weekend from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for shows “Making the Blue Band” and “Cook Like a Chef.”

Arts Festival Children’s Day Paper Quilt on Display in State College Borough Municipal Building

A colorful paper quilt, created by hundreds of children at the WPSU booth during Children’s Day at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, is now on display in the lobby of the State College Borough Municipal Building.

Geospatial Revolution Trailer Shown in House Subcommittee Hearing on Geospatial Data Management

A trailer for the upcoming Penn State Public Broadcasting documentary, Geospatial Revolution Project, was played before a hearing of the Congressional Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday, July 23, 2009. Subcommittee Chair, Rep. Jim Costa (C-DA), said the trailer made the proceedings “more informative and interactive.”

Pennsylvanians Affected by New Border Regulations

Pennsylvania residents have long been used to needing only regular driver’s licenses and a birth certificate to travel to Canada and back by car. But as of this week, that will no longer be possible.

Early Finish to WPSU-FM Spring Fundraising Campaign

WPSU-FM completed it’s seven day Spring Fundraising Campaign ahead of
schedule and slightly over goal on Monday, April 6. The $85,000
campaign was scheduled to conclude Monday evening but WPSU-FM
tradition is to stop fund raising when the goal is achieved. Over 700
contributors enabled WPSU-FM to end the campaign by mid-morning
Monday with $87,460 raised in support of public radio.
