Geospatial Revolution Trailer Shown in House Subcommittee Hearing on Geospatial Data Management

Posted by Steve Nelson on 07/24 at 02:52 PM

A trailer for the upcoming Penn State Public Broadcasting documentary, Geospatial Revolution Project, was played before a hearing of the Congressional Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday, July 23, 2009. Subcommittee Chair, Rep. Jim Costa (C-DA), said the trailer made the proceedings “more informative and interactive.”

This oversight hearing on “Federal Geospatial Data Management” was followed by a legislative hearing on H.R. 2489. Proposed by Rep. Herseth Sandlin and Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-OH), the bipartisan AmericaView Geospatial Imagery Mapping Program would authorize a comprehensive national cooperative geospatial imagery mapping program through the United States Geological Survey. This program would promote the use of federal geospatial imagery for education, workforce training and development, and applied research, and to support Federal, State, tribal, and local government programs.
