No Age To Headline Arts Crawl 4/9
Posted by Charlee Redman on 04/06 at 12:23 AM
Strolling minstrels, music emanating from classrooms, hands-on activities, and performance art undulating through hallways. What do all of these things have in common? They are the essence of Arts Crawl.
SOMA (Students Organizing the Multiple Arts) and VASA (Visual Art Student Alliance) will be hosting the 4th annual FREE festival celebrating and showcasing multiple art forms and music in the Arts Buildings on the University Park campus.
The event will be held on April 9th, starting at 6pm and continuing in a delectable mash-up of art and music until roughly 11pm.
No Age, the Los Angeles noise-rock duo comprised of guitarist Randy Randall and drummer Dean Allen Spunt, will headline the festival. No Age formed in 2005 and has released two studio albums and several EPs to date, including their hit record Nouns (2008). The band’s predilection for creative venues and dedication to the do-it-yourself underground art and music scene makes it a perfect match for Arts Crawl. No Age’s fuzzy guitars and minimalism sound like something out of a garage or basement (and I mean that in the best way) - reminiscent of youthful Saturday afternoons spent crafting raw, energetic rock songs for hours in the half-light.
Arts Crawl will also feature (at least!) eleven local musicians, playing in hallways, nooks, classrooms, and pretty much any other open space. Bands and artists performing this year include:
Golden Wolf
The Fiddlercrabs (I wrote about them here)
The Exclusive Document (a previous post about Exdoc)
Bong Kong
Dirty Superb
Ethan Palmer (another previous post)
Streaks of Light
Tim Busovsky
Judgment Shall Pass
Aglet
Blind Horses
