Debbie Reese of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign will present “American Indians in Children’s Literature: Pitfalls and Possibilities.”  Reese has written extensively on stereotypes of American Indians in children’s literature and is author of a popular blog titled http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com In her provocative lecture, Reese will invite the audience to consider portrayals of American Indians in popular, classic, and award-winning children’s and young adult books.
