Anthropology Film Festival

Film

12pm - 7pm

The Anthropology Graduate Student Association, The Department of Anthropology, and UPAC are sponsoring the First Annual Anthropology Film Festival at Penn State.  This year will feature the screenings of films by and discussion with Napoleon Chagnon.  Dr. Chagnon produced The Axe Fight and A Man Called Bee while at Penn State and they have become classic examples of anthropological documentary film.  Land and Water, a film by William T. Sanders will also be screened and is an important piece of the deep history of Penn State anthropological film.  Another classic anthropological film, First Contact, documenting the process of contact between Western prospectors and isolated indigenous people of New Guinea will be screened.  Each film will be introduced and discussed by the film makers or other anthropologists familiar with the films and cultures presented.  April 10, 12-7 pm in 105 Forum Building at University Park.  For the screening schedule and other information, please visit the film fest webpage.
