This Bellefonte Slalom is the last in a series of 7 Penn Cup slaloms, all occurring in Pennsylvania. Contestants, aged from 7 to 77 paddle their kayak or canoe through a series of about 20 gates, narrow “doors” on a whitewater path, Spring Creek in this case. Competitors are entered in various boat and age group classes to allow recognition of their paddling achievements.  This year there will be a large number of kids from 7 to 16 racing in addition to those over 40, also a large group. The top performers in the kayak or canoe race groups will vie for the 2009 Penn Cup Turkey Trophies. The young kids will show some exceptional skills in body and paddle movement that will point their way to stardom in later years.
