Brit Shalom Lecture Series: Jewish American Identity
Lectures
4:00 P.M.
Michael Hecht speaks about the experience of being Jewish in America has never been simple. At various times, Jews have been considered “non-white” and prejudice against members manifests itself in Jews being among the most frequent victims of hate crimes. As a result of this treatment, historical events, and characteristics of Jewish culture, a number of different Jewish identities have evolved. Being Jewish is experienced by its members as cultural and/or religious identities. These identities will be explored in this interactive presentation.
