Capuçon-Angelich Trio

Live Music: Classical

7:30 PM

The Capuçon-Angelich Trio unites the French duo of violinist Renaud Capuçon and cellist Gautier Capuçon with American-born pianist Nicholas Angelich. The Capuçon brothers, among the most gifted young string players in classical music, have each won a Victoires de la Musique (the French equivalent to a Grammy) for New Talent of the Year. Renaud Capuçon, who plays a 1737 Guarneri del Gesù violin that once belonged to Isaac Stern, also earned a Victoires de la Musique for Instrumentalist of the Year 2005. Angelich, who entered the Paris Conservatory at 13, has taken the top prizes in several international competitions, including the Gina Bachauer in 1994 and the Casadesus in 1996. In 2002, he received the International Klavierfestival Young Talent Award in Germany. The piano trio’s program features Ludwig van Beethoven’s Kakadu Variations, Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E, and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 2 in C Major.
