Live Music: Classical
8 p.m.
*Penn State at Carnegie Hall*
The Chihara Trio, the University’s newest faculty chamber music
ensemble, will perform in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall at 8 pm the day after the March 24th President’s Concert. We encourage you to attend both concerts.
The Chihara Trio, formed in 2009, consists of Penn State School of Music faculty members Anthony Costa (clarinet), Tim Deighton (viola), and Enrico Elisi (piano). The group takes its name from the celebrated American composer Paul Chihara (b. 1938), whose exciting new work/ Images/ will be premiered by the trio at its New York debut recital on March 25, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. The instrumentation of the ensemble represents three of the major performance areas in the School of Music (winds, strings, and piano). The program will also include Robert Schumann’s/ Märchenerzälungen/ (Fairy Tales) in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth, Mozart’s/ Kegelstatt Trio/, and a newly commissioned work by the young Korean composer Kye Ryung Park.
Tickets are $15 adults/$10 students and will be on sale at the Carnegie Hall Box Office or online at http://www.carnegiehall.org. Watch for more information on the School of Music Website:
