Penn State University Libraries are hosting tours of the new Donald W. Hamer Maps Library on Saturday, April 24, 10:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and other special collections that day. Visitors to the Maps Library will be able to see PennPilot and aerial views over time, load a map onto a personal GPS unit and more.
Special Collections tours include on the third floor of Pattee Library, west, the Charles L. Blockson Collection of African-Americana and the African Diaspora, featuring Black photographers 1840 to present and photographic essay of where music started and the Fred Waring’s American Collection, highlighting this renaissance man of radio and television. An exhibit, “Storyteller without Words,” in The Eberly Family Special Collections Library, 104 Paterno Library, displays early examples of the modern graphic novel.
