The Nittany Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) Chapter October meeting will present two employment benefits experts on “How Employers and Unions Are Re-Designing Benefits Programs in Turbulent Times”, October 7, 2009, in State College.
Every workplace is struggling with providing good quality employment benefits to their employees. High quality benefits are an important tool for attracting and retaining good employees. Benefits costs have been rising rapidly and are an important driver in fundamental changes in benefits, including health care. Our two speakers – Charli O’Neill (Standard Steel) and Paul Whitehead (former Steelworkers General Counsel and currently, Professor, Labor Studies and Employment Relations and Law ) – have been on the front lines of those changes and will describe strategies and pitfalls.
