April 26 – LECTURE: MILITARY HISTORY SPEAKERS SERIES; “The War of ‘98” The Spanish-American War of 1898 was a defining moment in history that launched the United States onto the international stage and concretized Spain’s decline as an empire.  Through various socio-historical and critical perspectives, Dr. Fernández-Medina’s presentation will examine the war of 98 to provide a more variegated rendering of how the United States-Cuba-Spain power play affected concepts of nation and national identity on both sides of the Atlantic.  Free Admission - 7:30 p.m.
