Marcellus Shale Fracking
Environmental: other
6PM
Don’t think there’s anything you can do about fracking?
We don’t trust the DEP to “regulate” the rate of destruction – we don’t want water buffalos and bottled water as consolation prizes, after they’ve scarred our land and polluted our pristine natural water sources.
Come hear Ben Price of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) talk about a different strategy – one that means asserting rights and not settling for “regulating” what we absolutely do not want to happen here, where we live.
CELDF has worked with communities since 1995, organizing residents and community groups to exercise the greatest amount of local self-governing authority possible. More than 120 municipalities have adopted ordinances drafted by the Legal Defense Fund. If you’re mad and don’t want to take it anymore, be sure to attend!
Also joining us is a spokesperson from the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Healthy Environments and Communities. CHEC helps individuals and communities identify the most important environmental problems facing them; empowering and energizing them with tools to prioritize & develop their own action plans towards more sustainable solutions for a healthy environment.
