This movie is certainly one of the Marx Brothers’ funniest and most all-around enjoyable cinema romps. Groucho, Chico, and Harpo pool their considerable talents for mayhem and disruption to sabotage a bunch of stuffed shirts who prefer their operas straight. The brothers’ goal is to bring two young lovers (Kitty Carlisle and Allen Jones) together while puncturing as many hot air bags as they can—including a pompous socialite (the great Margret Dumont, their perpetual foil).
