Quantum Computers and Raising Schroedinger’s Cat

David Wineland, a physicist at the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and leader of the NIST Ion Storage Group, will present the 2010 Mueller Lecture in the Physical Sciences on 4 March 2010 at the Penn State University Park Campus. This free public lecture is sponsored by the Eberly College of Science and the Department of Physics. The lecture, titled “Quantum Computers and Raising Schroedinger’s Cat,” will be held at 4:00 p.m. in 117 Osmond Laboratory. A social will take place preceding the lecture, starting at 3:30 p.m. in the Davey Laboratory/Osmond Laboratory overpass.
