Shamokin Diaries
Historic: lecture
7:30 p.m.
Please join us in the PA Military Museum auditorium for a special presentation by Drs. Katherine Faull and Alfred Siewers of Bucknell University. Dr. Faull has gained unprecedented access to the Moravian archives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and in Germany. These writings, never before identified and studied, offer insight into the daily lives of missionaries and native Americans living at the confluence of the north and west branches of the Susquehanna River during the years leading up to the French and Indian Wars. Fort Augusta was a frontier outpost in the mid-18th century and served as the last bastion of civilization between the hub of government in Philadelphia and the residents of the Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys. With their extensive knowledge of the history of the Susquehanna River Valley, Drs. Faull and Siewers will bring a unique perspective to frontier life as it was recorded by the Moravians. “Shamokin Diaries” is co-sponsored by Bald Eagle Archaeological Society and Centre County Historical Society.
