The 28th Annual Strawberry Festival, benefiting the Granary Project of the Lemont Village Association, will be Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8. p.m., no rain date, as we have tents on the Village Green.

The festival will feature fresh strawberries from Belleville, home made cakes, ice cream, strawberry smoothies, and lemonade, for $6/adult and $3/child from ages 5-12.  Music will be by Stacy Glen Tibbetts, from 4-6 pm, doing guitar and vocals, original and standard folk and swing tunes, and the Tuesday Night Bluegrass Jam from 6-8 pm featuring Joe Casher on lead guitar, Chuck Widmann and Jim Kerhin on 5-string banjo, Ron Strapel on mandolin, Charlie Sullivan and Kathy Dansky on fiddle, Scott Nichols on dobro, Tom Fox on harmonica, Dave O’Connell on base, Peggy Shutes on dulcimer, Bob Burlinson, Bob Frederick LeAnn Myhre and Rita O’Connell, on vocals, and there will be pony rides from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., and children’s activities. 

New this year will be clip on stainless steel cups for purchase, so we don’t have so much to dispose of.  Next year we’ll do edible plates!

The Lemont Village Green is in downtown Lemont, between Dale Street and Mt. Nittany Road off Pike Street.

Tours of the historic Thompson Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds (the Granary) will be available upon request.  Money raised will go toward continuation of the work for safety lighting, a rear exit, and bridge to the railroad track.
