Celebrate the beginning of the summer season by getting outdoors and trying some summer “adventures” such as fly fishing, canoeing or kayaking (fee for equipment required), horse drawn wagon rides (fee for ride required) or a guided mountain biking ride. Learn about beneficial bugs, nature photography basics, snappers and rattlers (reptiles) green camping equipment and techniques, and the wild mushrooms of Pennsylvania. Observe the finer points of retriever training while Caz and Chilli the lab show how it’s done! Find out about the scenic and wild Mid -State backpacking trail from one of its foremost maintainers. A food concession will be available as well as special activities and crafts for children including building a bird box, going on a stream search, and checking out skulls and pelts. A number of local vendors and environmental organizations will have displays and activities for you to enjoy. This is a great event for families,and scout and youth organizations! Please obtain an updated and complete agenda at the Halfway Run Environmental Learning Center on the day of the event!
