The 10th Annual Mielnik’s One-Eye Golf Challenge

Sports/Recreation

11 AM

Benefit golf tournament for Blair County Association for the Blind, beautiful drive to Altoona’s Park Hill Country Club

Sue and Steve Mielnik, who operate Mielnik’s Town & Country Market in Altoona, have experienced an unusually high incidence of visual impairment in their family. They have been sponsoring this golf challenge for the past 9 years as a way of raising awareness.

Contestants are provided with an eye patch to emphasize the importance of vision and of helping individuals with visual impairment to achieve a life of fulfillment and independence.

The Mielnick family has also made it possible for the Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (BCAB) to provide funding so we can serve our clients. The family has also created a scholarship in Blair County.

Detailed information on the golf challenge and services for the visually impaired is available at http://10thannualmielnickschallenge.blogspot.com/

Schedule for August 19th at the Park Hills Country Club:
1. At 10:45 Derrick J. Bunja, Executive Director of BCAB, will hold a brief press conference at the Country Club Banquet Hall.
