I was just starting to update the HOSTS page so it would include only the current hosts,  when it occurred to me that it would be great to have another section in the HOSTs area to list Emeritus hosts.  We might reach out to long time listeners to remind us of hosts they have enjoyed in the past,  and reach out to hosts that have moved away and invite them to send in pictures and bios,  and share their memories of hosting…

I love it… I lost touch with Dani Smith after leaving my Barash e-mail, and I still think about her generosity and kindness in helping me when I was training. Love to be reaffirmed that she’s doing well!

It would be fun to hear from past Folk Show DJ’s and get their pictures up on the host pages.  Here are some names from the past.  Some are just names to me,  but I remember quite a few quite well.  A suppose we could at least list names,  and add photo as we got them.  I would guess that about a third are still local.

I think it’s a good idea…I learned the boards from Tina Hay, with Mel updating me and encouraging me…and the experiences of learning and growing is an exciting thing.  Sharing experiences would be very interesting…

I certainly have enjoyed the experience…how bout everyone else?

Enjoyed the experience? Absolutely! It’s still really hard for me to narrow my playlist down to a 2 hour block; there is SO much good music out there that deserves to be heard. I can’t remember if October is my 5th or 6th year anniversary of doing the show. I was trained by Mel, but Dani Smith took me under her wing; I also sat in with Joe DeLuca, Cliff, Kris and Leslie early on to see how other people approached their shows, all were extremely helpful. When my schedule back then permitted Sunday shows, although not a Folk Show host, Steve Biddle was extremely gracious about making sure I was comfortable and things were under control early on before he’d head out; a few times he stuck around for an hour or so.

I hope I’ve been able to provide that same thing, to some degree, for some of the newer DJs.

Sadly, my personal schedule prevented me from making it to the air, but I was very taken in by the whole, yet brief, experience.

It is on my ‘to do’ list to get back up there an try again one day though, and I look forward to it.
