The Newport Folk Festival celebrates five decades of folk music this year.  This historic festival is held at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI, on August 1 and 2, 2009.

Many of the artist that were there in the early days are back this year for the celebration including Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Judy Collins and Arlo Guthrie. Other artists on the bill include the Decemberists, Neko Case Fleet Foxes, Gillian Welch, the Avett Brothers, Iron & Wine, Ben Kweller, Billy Bragg and Tom Morello (The Nightwatchman), Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, the Campbell Brothers, Tim Eriksen, Mavis Staples, Ben Kweller, the Del McCoury Band, Guy Clark, Deer Tick, Joe Pug, Balfa Toujours, David Rawlings, Langhorn Slim, Tao Rodriguez Seeger and more.

The festival features 3 stages of music, food, crafts, and a number of displays.
