June 12 :  Loving Day

From Folk DJ-List (folkdj-l@lists.psu.edu):

Today, June 12, is Loving Day, celebrating the day in 1967 when the US
Supreme Court ruled in the case of Loving v. Virginia.? Do I have a song
about this?? Why, yes I do.? “Summer of Loving” lays out the story of
Richard and Mildred Loving, the interracial couple convicted of the
heinous felony of getting married.
Roy Zimmerman

Roy Z wrote in about his song about the story of Richard and Mildred
Loving’s inter-racial love story.  If you have not heard Nanci
Griffith’s brand new one, check out the tile track:  The Loving Kind.
It’s the same story…and a great song.  If you have missed Nanci
Griffith, the new CD is back to her old sound and her best record since
the mid-nineties.
