RE: Scott Ainslie, If Anyone Asks About Me at 9:07

This guy’s a striking talent.  We’ve had him at Acoustic Brew and Folk College in the area and he’s made quite an impression on the musicians in the area.  Check it out for yourself, here’s his YouTube home:

RE: Townes Van Zandt, Tecumseh Valley at 9:20

One of America’s finest songwriters who died way too young.  Steve Earle has a new album out of nothing but Townes Van Zandt tunes called “Townes”...  check it out, I’m adding a copy of it into the WPSU Folk library here in the next day or so so hopefully you’ll hear more of it on the Folk Show in the coming weeks!

Check out a great interview (my favorite of both artists) w/ both Steve AND Townes:

pt 1: http://www.steveearle.net/articles/articles.php?action=view_record&article_id=18;
pt 2: http://www.steveearle.net/articles/articles.php?action=view_record&article_id=19;
pt 3: http://www.steveearle.net/articles/articles.php?action=view_record&article_id=20;

Here’s an excerpt from a DVD called Heartworn Highways of Townes doing one of my favorites of his, Waitin’ ‘Round to Die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGKzWDakK8

I don’t agree w/ everything in this bio, but it’s a start:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Townes_Van_Zandt

A tragic figure w/ an unparalleled songbook….

RE: Melody Gardot, Sweet Memory 9:39

She’s coming to State College!  Check out http://www.thestatetheatre.org/Events/fullevent.php?id=469 for more information about the June 25th show.  She was phenomenal last year!

Hear Melody the same way I did for the first time…  a radio concert!  Check out http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=87997625 for some great live NPR content!
