I’m passing on this note from a Stony Brook NY Folkie.  Do the lyrics below ring a bell for anyone?  I sent Claudia Schmidt a msg separately,  and I’ll let you know if she gives us the answer.

Dear Folks at The Folk Show:
I am in search of a folk song that is not on the web, and I hope like crazy you can help me!  (I found you on the web when I was searching for the song - I live in New York.)
We hate people who hate people(?)

There’s a wonderful, hilarious song which has a chorus which goes something like:

We hate the people who hate us too

And they hate us ‘cause we hate you

We all hate the people who hate like you

We hate people who hate people like me and you

I heard Claudia Schmidt sing it in concert in the 80’s.  I desperately want to sing this at church next weekend for a service on civil discourse and acceptance of other views.  Have you heard the song?  Do you know anything about it?

Claudia Schmidt responds:

I did sing that song, though I don’t remember it anymore. .it was written by Ned Bachhus from Philadelphia (at least then). .I hope that helps!  Claudia (Claudiaschmidt.com)
