Funny man Steve Martin has a new CD called “The Crow.”  I’ve heard a few cuts and it sounds great.  All 15 tracks were written by Steve.

The CD includes guests Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Mary Black, Tim O’Brien, Earl Scruggs, Pete Wernick and Tony Trischka.  John McEuen, his high school buddy and founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (or Nitty Gritty Dirt Bags as a fellow DJ once mispronounced),  produced the CD.  John spoke highly of the project at his show at the Wagon Shed Concert Series a few months ago.

Steve Martin is scheduled to make his banjo playing debut at the Grand Old Opry this month.  What a very talented guy…comedian, actor, teacher, writer and great musician.

This will be a good one for the Folk Show library.

He brought his banjo out on the Colbert Report interview. He didn’t play a whole lot, but you could immediately see he knew what he was doing. I’m looking forward to checking this one out!

Amazon has a digital download of this CD for $5 today, Friday the 10th.  I think it may just be valid today.  Find the link by going to amazon.com/fridaysale and scrolling to the bottom of the page.  Enjoy great music!
