The Folk Show, Saturday, April 11, 2009, 8-10 PM
Thanks to Kris Allen for pointing out that Saturday will mark the 60th anniversary of Ireland becoming a republic. In celebration, I’ll be playing some Irish tunes including a cut from the Chieftains and some nice Irish jigs on guitar by Dan Ar Bras.
We’ll hear another cut off Bela Fleck’s new “Africa Sessions” CD. Gotta check out this album!
The Infamous String Dusters will be at the Wagon Shed Concert Series next week so we’ve got to hear a little from them.
Billy Cardine, the dobro player from the Biscuit Burners, has a CD out with Ivan Rosenberg called “The Donkeys.” You’ll hear a hot dobro duet from them as well as a nice version of “Rough and Rocky” that features the original lead singer of the Biscuit Burners, Shannon Whitworth.
Got a nice CD last week from Bill Evans and Megan Lynch. We’ll listen to some cuts from that. Tasty banjo, fiddle and some sweet vocals.
The Duhks, Tony Rice, Ry Cooder, Caroline Haring, The Wailin’ Jennys, Taj Mahal and much, much more.
Tune in!
