Friends & Farmers Cooperative to hold Membership Meeting and Elections Nov. 5

Friends & Farmers Cooperative will hold its 2016 Membership Meeting and Election on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. at the State College Friends School. The Membership Meeting is open to members and any community members interested in joining the co-op.

Co-op members will vote on their democratically elected board. For a full list of candidates, head to http://www.friendsandfarmers.coop/2016_board_elections.

Please note, there may be additions to the current list as candidates had until October 22 to declare candidacy.

Additionally, the Friends & Farmers Board of Directors will update the community on recent achievements and next steps on the path to a brick and mortar store. Friends & Farmers currently comprises 475 household members and aims for 500 members by the end of the year. The co-op recently announced a job opening for a Project Manager, who will be responsible for planning and leading the cooperative development process and overseeing the projects and tools that will continue to ensure the financial feasibility of our community-owned store.

This year’s meeting will also include:

• A Barter Fair. Bring a homemade or handmade item to display at our Barter Table and trade with community members. From baked goods, bumper crops and hand-knitted mittens to canned delights, garden surpluses and seeds, eligible items are limited only by your creativity!

• Music by acoustic duo Anchor&Arrow

• Local soup catered by Webster’s

• A chance to share your own version of the cooperative in a fun activity led by Carolyne Meehan and Katie Krebs, creative writing instructors at the Makery.

• Kid’s activities

Check http://www.friendsandfarmers.coop/ for RSVP info and meeting updates.
