Operate the on-air switcher following established procedures. Load programs and continuity for broadcast and cablecast according to the broadcast and cable logs. Assign usage of various master control equipment. Set up, adjust, and operate electronic equipment in master control and studio. Equipment includes, but not limited to, waveform and TV monitors, audio meters, videotape machines, router and patch panel, film/slide chain, switchers, vectorscopes, still storer, audio cart machines, reel-to-reel machines, DAT machines, automated programming and/or continuity devices, character generators, and computers. Analyze TV signals from a variety of sources for proper level and other parameters. Make adjustments and/or calibrations to ensure that equipment is operating in accordance with established standards. Work with tolerances up to .0005 percent. Notify supervisor of discrepancies. Monitor the quality of various video/audio signals, including, but not limited to WPSX, PENNARAMA, incoming/outgoing satellite and Pennsylvania Public Television Network feeds for broadcast, recording, teleconferencing, and campus cable. Correct signal problems when they occur in cooperation with technical staff. Evaluate completed videotaped programs for adherence to established standards for proper video and audio levels, pulse widths, "dropouts," stability and color phasing, etc. Notify higher-graded technicians or supervisor when equipment is not functioning properly. Provide accurate description of malfunction. Under the supervision of higher-graded technicians or supervisor, operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, signal generators, and distortion analyzers. Assist in repairing, calibrating, and installing equipment. Work with exposed circuits where voltages may be high as 50,000 volts. Make recommendations to supervisor when stocks of parts, components, forms, or other materials need replenishment and where new equipment may be needed. Train other employees in proper operating procedures of master control and studio electronic equipment, and related test equipment. Operate University vehicles as required. Edit TV programs and continuity materials, machine to machine. Following established procedures, perform routine preventive maintenance on electronic equipment. Report results of measurements as required. Use various hand tools for routine servicing and construction of electronic components/equipment. Remove snow from satellite dishes as necessary. 1:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
