Outreach’s Penn State Public Media is seeking a Multimedia Specialist. Our busy and growing multimedia team seeks a creative talent who enjoys learning new techniques, has a strong understanding of user experience, and loves the intersection of web and video. The successful candidate must enjoy graphical design, focusing primarily on motion graphics (Adobe After Effects or equivalent) and 3D graphics and animation (Maya or equivalent). Work will range from animations of complex scientific processes to creating environments for games and interactives. Possessing skills in game engines (Unity) is a plus. Penn State Public Media is seeking an experienced Information Technology Support Specialist to join our department. We are the local PBS/NPR affiliate that produces unique content for the public and other departments within Penn State. While the majority of the support will be with Apple/Mac OS/iOS systems, knowledge of Windows, Linux and Unix are also required. Experience with Adobe CC, Final Cut Studio, ProTools, IP based networking, firewalls, backup schemes, data integrity, audio/video codecs, virtual machines and scripting are also required. Experience with ITIL service management standards is a plus. Duties will include but are not limited to, end-user support and basic training, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, maintaining backup systems, process documentation, monitoring online request system, OS and application patches/updates. Penn State Public Media (PSPM), is home to WPSU-TV and FM (http://wpsu.org/) central Pennsylvania’s NPR and PBS affiliate stations. PSPM develops documentaries and education initiatives to raise awareness of social issues, and works with on-campus clients to deliver video and web solutions that support Penn State (http://www.psu.edu/) and its mission (http://www.creativegroup.psu.edu/). PSPM seeks an experienced professional to serve as Director of Content Strategy/Creative Director for video and multimedia production initiatives at the station. Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with the Director of Production, this new position will build a cross-platform content strategy in support of PSPM’s strategic plan, and provide creative oversight of local content productions, programming and work-for-hire projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in successfully leading creative teams, mentoring staff, working across delivery platforms, and building relationships with stakeholders. A strong creative vision and the ability to communicate that vision to a diverse group of constituents is important, as is experience developing and funding large-scale projects. Strong cross-platform storytelling skills are critical. This position will develop content strategies for the station’s production pipeline and broadcast programs by leading creative teams of producers, directors, new media professionals, and project managers in the planning and creation of content and community engagement efforts; providing overall creative and editorial supervision across product lines; ensuring that all content meets the appropriate professional and creative standards to meet the needs of the audience/client; developing and managing the station’s distribution strategy to achieve the highest level of impact and return on all content production; deploying standards, systems, and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval, and repurposing; implementing strategies to measure audience impact, gather metrics, and create feedback mechanisms to address audience and client needs; effectively communicating with stakeholders to raise awareness and communicate value; supervising and coordinating the staff professional development; and working with staff to explore emerging production, distribution, and multi-platform technologies. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience.
