WPSU is accepting applications for a Multimedia Specialist to join our Creative Services Team. The Creative Services team is charged with the design, development, and technical support of high-impact websites and online non-credit courses for University clients and internal WPSU public media projects.

Join our busy and growing team and work on a broad variety of projects alongside instructional designers, web designers, and full-stack web developers. The ideal candidate will blend design and development skills with a strong background in writing and editing. This position has the potential to work remotely.  Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s Degree or higher and at least 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of both.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of re- funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to design, develop, evaluate, and revise websites and non-credit online courses for a broad variety of audiences and outcomes.

  • Build, deploy, optimize, and maintain projects in our content management system.

  • Conduct content review and site testing to ensure the intuitive design and comprehensible and accessible content.

  • Respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, propose and implement solutions.

  • Research, draft, and edit web content.

  • Assist in client meetings, project proposals, and project management.

  • Help organize and manage project artifacts, video libraries, and other digital assets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and time management abilities.

  • Strong written communication skills with a focus on editing and writing for the web.

  • Working knowledge of current and evolving web technologies/protocols, HTML, SCSS/CSS, JavaScript, web accessibility (WCAG 2.0+), usability, UX, and web standards. Experience inspecting page sources and errors in the browser console.

  • Experience with content management systems.

  • Knowledge of best practices for online learning.

  • Awareness of best practices related to copyright and Creative Commons licensing.

  • Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to thrive in a remote, team-based, collaborative work environment.

WPSU Penn State is looking for occasional wage employees for television production. Candidates must have or want experience in studio-based and/or remote-based production including one or more of these skilled areas: camera operation, lighting design and/or setup, studio and/or remote audio recording, audio reinforcement, wireless and boom micing and video editing. Due to short response time requirements, preference will be given to local applicants. Hours will vary according to the production needs and will not exceed 20 hrs/week.
