MANTA – Autonomous Underwater System

Scientist with self-driving submarine

A group at Penn State is trying to build an autonomous system that can operate under water. The team lead by John Sustersic wants to build a self-driving submarine, but this project is a little more complicated than that. It’s an unforgiving environment that’s pushing this technology into new territory. Learn more!   Special thanks to the Office of Naval of Research Swampworks for its continuing Science and Technology investment in this project.
