For nearly 60 years, houses on this State College street have been decorated as the 12 Days of Christmas.

Diane Zell explains the tradition’s roots in a 1960s bridge game and how it stood the test of time, even as houses along South Sparks Street change hands and new neighbors move in. And every year there’s a familiar controversy as families debate the linguistic accuracy of “calling birds” Diane gives her definitive answer.
